Dean Robert Keithly

Graduate Student, Space Imaging and Optical Sciences Laboratory,Department Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

About Me

My passion is for space exploration. I enjoy doing the due diligience to design and build spacecraft(robots too).

I have worked at NASA for 4 summers in addition to many automotive internships.

Research

At Cornell University, I perform research in space-based telescope scheduling. My work informs the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) Coronagraphic Instrument (CGI) team of which stars to target, how long to observe them, and when to observe them. I develop the algorithms producing these target selections and observation schedules.

I support development of the EXOplanet imaging SIMulator (EXOSIMS) This work is accomplished under funding by the New York Space Grant Consortium.

Publications

Coursework

I have taken a variety of courses focused on modeling dynamics, systems engineering, spacecraft design, and mechanical design.
